Premier Hardscape Maintenance Professional in Northwest Connecticut

CleanScapes cleans, repairs, and seals paver driveways, stone patios, walkways, and stamped concrete across the region. Winters around here hit outdoor masonry hard—water gets into microscopic cracks, freezes, expands, and leaves you with popped stones, loose joint sand, and tilted walkways by April. We fix those issues and stop them before they start, using methods and products matched to your stonework so the surface underneath stays sound.

Twenty-Five Years of Experience with New England Stone

A paver patio isn't just laid down and forgotten. Between freeze-thaw cycles, spring rain, and shade that grows heavy moss by July, outdoor stone requires routine upkeep to hold its value and stay level. CleanScapes is family-owned and operated. The company was founded in 2021, and our owner brings roughly 25 years of industry experience to every job site. That background means we don't guess at sand ratios, sealer selection, or base compaction. We fix the underlying cause of sagging brick or failing mortar, ensuring your outdoor spaces stay safe, clean, and sound through every season.

What We Do for Your Stone, Pavers, and Walls

Every stone surface wears differently depending on sunlight, drainage, tree cover, and foot traffic. We tailor our work to address specific failures—from simple organic staining to collapsed sub-bases beneath heavy driveway pavers.

Deep Washing Matched to the Surface

Every surface takes cleaning differently. We match water pressure, temperature, and cleaning solutions to the pavers, stone, or concrete in front of us, breaking down embedded mold, lichen, and dirt and treating oil spots without gouging the surface or washing out surrounding topsoil and flowerbeds.

Seasonal Upkeep and Prevention

Caught early, minor paver movement or sand loss takes minimal work to correct. Our maintenance visits clear out deep dirt, treat biological growth at the root level, and catch small base shifts before a couple of sunken pavers turn into an entire patio teardown.

Fixing Structural Damage and Settled Base

When pavers sink or walkway edges break free, cosmetic cleaning isn't enough. We rebuild the base, re-anchor stone borders, and replace cracked pavers with matching materials so the repair blends in naturally with your existing stone.

Keeping Joints Solid and Weeds Out

Weed roots in paver joints mean water is getting underneath. We clear out old, degraded sand, run a rolling compactor to consolidate the joints, and pack them with high-density jointing sand that resists erosion and gives weeds and insects less room to take hold.

Sealing Against Water and De-Icing Salt

Winter road salt carried in on tires will pit concrete pavers fast. We select the sealer for each project based on the surface, its condition, and the finish you want. The right sealer forms a protective barrier against water and de-icing salts and slows surface flaking and sun fading.

Treating Oil, Mold, and Leaf Stains

Shaded stone turns green fast, while oak leaves leave dark tannin rings if left over winter. Our cleaning process treats stubborn organic stains and vehicle fluids with products suited to the surface, improving the appearance of stained areas and restoring slip resistance and natural color.

“We have a long paver driveway that had gone years without maintenance. It was becoming quite a pain to weed. Cleanscapes cleaned all the pavers, removed old jointing material and put all new polymetric sand in the joints. The driveway looks great and weed free. We will definitely be working with them going forward for maintenance needs.”

Questions People Ask Before Hiring Us

Can I power wash my patio myself?

You can, but high pressure often creates bigger problems. Home pressure washers easily blast out structural joint sand, chip stone edges, and etch soft concrete. Worse, water forced under pavers softens the aggregate base below, causing pavers to sink unevenly next season. We match the pressure, water temperature, and detergent to the surface so organic growth comes off without disturbing the sub-base or removing sand you need.

Where do your crews operate?

We cover homes and commercial sites throughout Litchfield, Hartford, Fairfield, and neighboring counties in Northwest Connecticut. Our crews travel daily across the area, making it easy to schedule on-site visits and project starts.

How often should stone be resealed?

Most paver driveways and patios need re-sealing every three to five years. Shaded backyards with high moisture or driveways exposed to heavy traffic and de-icing chemicals sit on the shorter end of that window. Sun-exposed patios with light foot traffic last longer before needing another coat.

Why do pavers settle or pull apart?

Pavers sink when water washes away the fine bedding sand underneath or when winter frost heave expands saturated ground soil. Vehicle weight on driveways with thin sub-bases also pushes pavers down. We fix this by digging down, packing new crushed stone aggregate, resetting the pavers flat, and sealing the joints to keep water out.

How do you decide how much pressure to use?

It depends on the surface. Dense concrete pavers can take more pressure than bluestone, brick, or sealed stamped concrete. We look at the material, its age, and its condition first, then set the pressure, water temperature, and cleaning solution to suit it. Every project is treated on its own terms.

Is fresh sand necessary after deep washing?

Yes. Joint sand binds pavers into a single interconnected surface, spreading out weight and stopping individual stones from tipping under pressure. When washing strips old, dirty sand away, replacing it with fresh jointing sand blocks weed growth, stops ants, and keeps rainwater from seeping beneath the stones.

Will the stains come out completely?

Most dirt, moss, and algae come off completely. Oil, rust, and other deep-set stains are different: we treat them with products chosen for the surface, and in most cases the appearance improves a great deal, but we do not promise that every embedded stain disappears. We will tell you what to expect after looking at it.

How long does a typical job take?

Most residential projects—cleaning, minor base repairs, joint re-sanding, and sealing—take one to three clear days. Re-sanding and sealing require dry weather, so heavy rain can add a day or two to the schedule while stone surfaces dry out completely.
